Some Efficient Steps in Exterior House Painting.

If you have decided to paint your house first, you should list all the necessary things needed for home exterior painting.

There is no one-size-fits-all solution for choosing the appropriate paint colour. JXF Painting Services offers a wide range of colours and solutions for exterior painting, from good to best.

Budget how much you want to spend on the project as a general guideline, and then get the best paint you can afford because the price is a good indicator of quality.

More expensive paints include more pigments, resulting in a thicker, longer-lasting, and more protective layer.

Paint Options

Few people bother to read the fine text on the paint can label, but they should. There’s a variety of information on the can to assist you in creating a stunning paint job.

Quality paint is the most crucial step in exterior painting.

Pay special attention to the directions for preparing the surface and determining the outside air temperature.

Most paints should not be applied when the temperature is 50 degrees F or lower. However, specific colours are designed to be used at temperatures as low as 35 degrees F. Read the label before you begin painting and before the title becomes smeared with paint and is impossible to read.

Prep the Surface

You must clean the house’s exterior of any filth, grime, mildew, and chalky residue for the fresh coat of paint to adhere to the surface. You can quickly start with a pressure washer to clean all the dust. The easiest way to do this is with a power sprayer, but hand cleaning with a stiff-bristle brush is just as efficient and often takes less time because it involves less preparation and setup time.

Tap all nailheads below the surface with a hammer and a nail set, then fill the holes with exterior-grade putty with a paint sprayer. Sand the putty flush once it has fully cured. If you’re replacing caulk around windows, doors, siding, and trim, make sure you use a paintable caulk.

As long as the old painted surface is in good shape, you can get started with your exterior painting job. Any areas where the old paint has blistered or flaked off should be scraped and sanded. Also, all bare wood siding must be primed before painting.

Brush or Roller?

A paintbrush and a roller are the most efficient and effective ways to apply exterior paint. Paint narrow surfaces, edges, and smaller areas using a brush, and broad and lengthy surfaces like siding and trim with a short, small-diameter roller.

Begin in the shade.

Fresh paint will dry too rapidly if painted in direct sunlight or on a sun-baked surface.

As a result, it will not adhere properly, blistering and flaking prematurely.

So start painting on the house’s shaded side. (Wipe the surface dry if it’s wet.) Then wait for the sun to move and shade the other sides of the house—or paint on a cloudy day.

Take it Straight From the Top.

If you are painting large areas, begin painting from the top and work your way down the house. Before painting the broad surfaces, start with the bottom edge of the siding. Always brush from one moist surface to another wet surface to avoid lap marks. When this isn’t an option, and you have to paint over a previously painted and dried surface, overlap the dried paint by several inches.

And, because you’ll be working at a high altitude, remember the basics of ladder safety: If you reach too far to the side, you may fall over. Attempt to maintain your hips within the ladder’s horizontal rails. Climbing down, moving the ladder, and climbing back up is far more prudent than risking falling.
